Time Out Week 4

This past week marked a month at my internship. I am shocked at how fast time is flying by. It still feels like I just arrived the other day. It’s already coming up on the end of June, which means the Time Out July magazines will be published soon. I did a decent amount of fact checking for both Melbourne and Sydney’s July issues during the week. This mostly consisted of checking addresses, venue hours, website URLs, and phone numbers. Every once in awhile I would catch a spelling error or a missed word, but that was very rare. In the beginning of the week, I spent some time sorting through the competitions and adding people’s names and e-mails to a master list of everyone who has signed up for specific competitions. I also wrote up another competition for the website. I did some more event listings during the week as well. Doing event listings is pretty much a daily thing for me. I like to think I am getting better at them. In fact, one of the event listings I wrote up is being published in the July issue in the Things To Do section. It is a listing about a festival that is going on in July at Circular Quay for Bastille Day. On Thursday, I started researching what restaurants offered either a Christmas in July special or Sunday Roast. I then compiled a list and went through it with the Bar and Pub Editor, Emily. We then shortened the list down and since then I’ve been working on writing blurbs about all that you can get at each of these restaurant’s for Christmas in July. It’s taken a decent amount of research to find everything I’ve needed. Definitely a learning experience.
